For the second consecutive year, San Francisco will host an exciting street soccer tournament in the heart of the city, as the Street Soccer National Cup returns August 15-16, 2015 to Civic Center Plaza.
The National Cup benefits Street Soccer USA‘s social mission of using soccer to make real change in the lives of homeless and at-risk teens and young adults.
The two-day event includes 4 v 4 street soccer, food and music. Kids, adults, and businesses can enter teams in three different divisions (Youth, Open, Corporate), and all fees go to teaching job and life skills to those in the program.
San Jose Earthquakes and USMNT player Chris Wondolowski has been a SSUSA national ambassador since 2011, promoting the organizations effort, making appearances and helping raise money on their behalf.
The centerpiece of the tournament is the competition between SSUSA program teams from 16 different cities across the United States.
Last year, teams from Street Soccer Los Angeles (in conjunction with non-profit, Jovenes) won both the Men’s and Women’s National Cup competitions, while a team from Google won the Corporate division and Four Play (a team of Stanford Soccer Alums) won the Open division.
Street Soccer USA is hosting a Kick-Off Party on Thursday, July 9 at 111 Minna Street in San Francisco. Amidst a silent auction and raffle, you’ll be able to learn more about participating as a player or volunteer. Early-bird registration for the tournament will also be available.
