We wrote about SF City FC earlier this year and their efforts in bringing a supporter-owned football club to San Francisco.
This Saturday, they face another important hurdle in the club’s growth, as they square off against Cal FC in a U.S. Open Cup match. It will be the first Open Cup appearance by a San Francisco named soccer team in almost 20 years.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States, and needless to say, any sort of a deeper run into the tournament would be huge for City.
And don’t miss this great write-up on the club via U.S. Soccer
Hope we see you at the match!
