The International Champions Cup, an annual football friendly exhibition competition, featuring high profile teams from the world’s top teams, returns to Levi’s Stadium for the third consecutive year on July 23 with a match pitting Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid against legendary English side, Manchester United.
Last year’s Levi’s hosted Liverpool and AC Milan before a sellout crowd, and in 2015 featured Barcelona against Manchester United. The annual competition has become a popular way for American fans to see some of their favorite international players in person.
Currently atop La Liga Real Madrid boasts FIFA Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo and Welsh standout Gareth Bale, while Manchester United’s top goal-scorer is the inimitable Zlatan Ibrahimović, alongside English stalwart Wayne Rooney.
While not the ideal soccer stadium, the quality of entertainment for this match should outshine anything from the venue’s current occupants. Tickets for the matchup at Levi’s Stadium go on sale to the general public beginning Tuesday, April 4.
