Next Wednesday, August 12th, US National Team striker, MLS MVP and 2-time goal scoring champion, Chris Wondolowski will sign a contract with Street Soccer USA, to join the SSUSA National Soccer for Social Change Board.

The event takes place at Uniqlo’s Union Square store in San Francisco in front of city officials, SSUSA representatives, as well as SSUSA partners, Uniqlo USA and the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.

And hopefully you! Yes, this event is open to the public, with Chris answering questions from the media and signing autographs!

A local soccer legend and someone who has done so much for the Bay Area community, Chris is the perfect partner as we prepare for our upcoming National Cup in Civic Center.

We wrote about the 2015 SSUSA National Cup which takes place August 15-16th at San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza.

Street Soccer USA (SSUSA), a  leading national sport for social change organization, runs programs in 16. U.S. cities which use soccer to to improve health, education and employment opportunities for at risk youth and homeless young adults.

The second annual National Cup, hosted in Civic Center Plaza, is a four-a-side soccer tournament featuring 64 coed, amateur adult (16 and up) teams. Some of the teams participating include Zendesk, Google, SFPD, and the Bay Area Gooners.  In addition, teams from 16 of SSUSA’s social programs across the country will show off their skills and celebrate their achievements. Outstanding players are chosen at the end of the tournament to go on and represent Street Soccer USA at the Homeless World Cup in Amsterdam in September.

The Street Soccer USA Civic Center Cup is the perfect venue to showcase the power of soccer to bring people together and make big dreams possible, Rob Cann says, Developing soccer in America goes hand in hand with building better communities. Our social service partners, our coaches and players work together to help people overcome their obstacles in life. It’s all about teamwork and achieving goals, that’s what is on display at the Street Soccer USA Civic Center Cup.
